(EMOTIONAL VERTICAL INTEGRATION)

OUR METHOD

Emotional Vertical Integration

The success of our teaching is based on years of research and observation – that’s how the EVI method was born and later on refined and transformed to what it is nowadays.

EVI stands for Emotional Vertical Integration and encompasses a set of teaching guidelines and principles based on human psychology, social behaviors and learning patterns.

Throughout our long teaching history and study of the processes of language acquisition, we have established correlation between the emotional state of learner and educational outcome, coming to a conclusion that the more emotionally involved the student is, the better they are able to memorize new lexical and grammar units (words and rules).

Upon establishing that correlation, we have created methodology (specific procedures, rules and strategies) of teaching a language by connecting memorization of new material with a certain emotional experience, which makes “Language Destination” method unique and first of its kind.

Why it works

It is a well known fact that humans are guided by feelings during important life decisions as well as during their every day tasks and activities. An Academic environment is traditionally perceived as being excluded from “emotional” domain, being in nature more analytical and pragmatic. However, emotion is always present and even critical in academic setting (which language learning is), since emotion modifies every aspect of cognition.

We always associate tests, examinations, homework, presentations, publications and even group speaking and participation in discussions with various emotional states, be it excitement, anxiety, nervousness, joy of new achievements or pride of our mental capabilities. Whenever various brain regions, responsible for information analysis and retention, are activated by emotional-cognitive interactions, it in its turn triggers long-term memory (LTM) and ensures storing information for long periods of time. Besides perception, learning, memory and problem solving, emotion has a considerable impact on attention. That is, the more interested you are, the better you listen and retain new information.

Our role is to provide rich and engaging learning environment to activate those mental processes in our students. We do it in a number of ways, including but not limited to positive reinforcement and attention to every person, engaging platform with interactive exercises, attention-grabbing presentation techniques and latest computer technology, as well as by creating community of enthusiastic learners with everyday interaction and games/movies nights to make the process fun and memorable. It is proven that a joyful classroom atmosphere ignites internal chemical responses in students that make them more prone to learn how to successfully solve communicational problems in potentially stressful life situations.
